PURPOSE: To provide an economical and simple method for preparing a bamboo fiber which is useful over the wide range of use such as a building material, a filling material, a reinforcing material and a feed for domestic animals.
CONSTITUTION: A method for preparing a bamboo fiber consists of the first process wherein a bamboo material is roughly ground in the growing direction of the bamboo and the second process wherein the bamboo material obtd. at the first process is fed into a filament-opening apparatus having a rotating drum provided with a number of teeth through a feed roll and it is opened therein. In addition, when the bamboo material obtd. by the first process is treated in the second process, the bamboo material can be more completely opened by pulling out the bamboo material by rotating reversely the feed roll after part of the bamboo material is opened and performing again the treatment of the second process from unopened side by making the direction of the bamboo material in the reverse direction.
