PURPOSE: To produce the subject compd. in high yield as an intermediate for the synthesis of sulfonylurea as a herbicide intermediate by an easy method using a benzenesulfonate which is easily available via 4 to 6 new intermediates.
CONSTITUTION: When the objective compd. expressed by formula I (R is 3,3- difluorobutyl, 3,3difluorobuten-1-yl) is to be prepared, a new compd. expressed by formula III is obtd. from a compd. expressed by formula II (M is an alkali metal, etc.). Then, an inorg. acid chloride is allowed to react to convert the new compd. into a new compd. expressed by formula IV, which is further converted into a new compd. expressed by formula V (R1 is 3chloro-2buten-1-yl, 3-chloro3-buten-1-yl, etc.), by using phosphorus pentachloride. Further, the compd. of formula V is allowed to react with HF to obtain a new compd. expressed by formula VI (X is Cl, F), which is finally allowed to react with ammonia to obtain 2-(3,3-difluorobutyl)benzenesulfonamide expressed by formula VII. Or, from the new compd. of formula VI, new compds. expressed by formula VIII and IX are obtd., and then a compd. expressed by formula X is obtd. via the compounds of formulae VIII and IX.
