Abstract:
To obtain a branched thermoplastic resin having arms or branches which have substantially uniform arm length and narrow polydispersity.
The preparation process comprises the steps wherein a mixture of an unsaturated resin, a free radical initiator such as benzoyl peroxide and a stable free radical agent such as 2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-1-piperidinyloxy is heated, this heated mixture is added with at least one polymerizable monomer such as styrene, and optionally the above-mentioned mixture is cooled. The product obtained here is a branched thermoplastic resin having an arm or branch containing a polymerized monomer having substantially uniform length and narrow polydispersity.
