Abstract:
To provide a method for preparing ε-caprolactam (caprolactam) from biochemically prepared 6-aminocaproic acid (6-ACA).SOLUTION: A method for preparing caprolactam comprises recovering a mixture containing 6-aminocaproic acid from a culture medium comprising biomass, and thereafter cyclizing the 6-aminocaproic acid in the presence of superheated steam, thereby forming caprolactam, where the weight ratio of carbohydrate to 6-aminocaproic acid in the mixture is 0.03 or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
