Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain an acylating reagent useful in preparing a cephalosporin intermediate which is composed of a compound represented by a specific formula and capable of producing cephalosporin antibiotics in high yields and high purities.
CONSTITUTION: An acylating reagent comprises a compound represented by formula I (wherein Z is 2-pyridyl or 2-benzothiazolyl) which is to introduce 2-(2-aminothiazol-4-yl)-2-oxoacetyl group without protecting the amino group of its 2-position to the amino group of the 7-position of a 7- aminocephalosporanic acid derivative. Further, it is suitable to obtain the compound of formula I, e.g. by the esterification of a compound of the formula: R1-COOH (wherein R1 is a group of formula II), or the like.
