PURPOSE: To obtain a chemical agent that is free from corrosion and has a high charge density and hydrolysis stability by incorporating a polymer based on a quaternarized 1-vinyl imidazole.
CONSTITUTION: The chemical agent for use in cosmetic formulations, conductivity increasing chemical agents, agglomerating agent, and assistants for oil production using homo- or copolymer based on a quanternarized 1-vinyl imidazole prepared from (A) 10-100 wt.% of a 1-vinyl imidazole of a formula, (in which R1, R2 and R3 separately represent H and a 1-4C alkyl), and (B) 0-90 wt.%, (based on the sum of A and B in the auqternarized forms), of a copolymerizable monomer as an organic polyelectrolyte. In this process, the incorporated homo- or copolymer is produced with the use of the compound of (R4)nA, (in which R4 represents a 1-20C alkyl and benzyl; A represents an iodied, a carbonate, methyl sulfate, ethyl sulfate, and a sulfate; n is 1 or 2), as a agent to make compound quaternary.
