Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a polymerization catalyst for polymers, dopant for semiconductors, etc., economically in an industrial scale, by carrying out the reaction of alkyl halide with zinc and the thermal decomposition of the product in an organic solvent inert to dialkyl zinc.
CONSTITUTION: At least one kind of alkyl halide (preferably an alkyl bromide or a mixture of alkyl bromide and alkyl iodide) is made to react with zinc, and the reaction product is thermally decomposed preferably at 150W300°C in an organic solvent inert to dialkyl zince (preferably kerosene). The mixed vapor of dialkyl zinc and the organic solvent is separated from the reaction mixture by distillation.
