PURPOSE: To easily remove attached absorbing material from the surface of a fresh flower together with a coating film, by applying a water-permeable coating to the outer surface of a fresh flower, drying the flower using a powdery or granular absorbing material and washing the flower with a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A fresh flower is dipped e.g., in an oil having high boiling point (e.g., silicone oil or vegetable oil) to form a water-permeable coating film on the surface. The coated flower is put into a vessel and an absorbing material thoroughly dried by heating at 60W130°C is charged into the vessel. The water in the fresh flower is released through the coating film and the obtained dry flower is washed with a solvent (e.g., acetone or alcohol) to easily remove the attached absorbing material together with the coating film in a short time. The above process enables the introduction of the oil into the tissue of the fresh flower to substitute the water, produces a flexible dry flower to prevent the breakage in handling, increase the surface gloss and improves the brightness of the color.
