PURPOSE: To provide an electro-deposition paint for electrical wire, giving heat- resistant coating film, and composed of an emulsion of a vinyl copolymer obtained by the emulsion copolymerization of acrylonitrile, α-methylstyrene and other vinyl monomer.
CONSTITUTION: The objective paint is prepared by the emulsion copolymerization of (A) acrylonitrile, (B) α-methylstyrene, (C) other vinyl monomer (e.g. acrylic acid ester) as a soft component, and if necessary, (D) a vinyl monomer (e.g. glycidyl methacrylate) as a crosslinking agent component, preferably in amounts of 35W80wt%, 45W5wt%, 5W25wt% and 1W15wt%, respectively. For example, 100pts.wt. of the above monomers are subjected to the emulsion copolymerization in nitrogen atmosphere at 60W90°C in the presence of 200W900pts.wt. of water, 0.1W1pt.wt. of a surface active agent, and 0.01W1pt.wt. of a polymerization initiator.
