PURPOSE: In a reaction distillation column, to obtain epichlorohydrin in high yield, by feeding a milk of lime to a position higher than a feed position of glycerol dichlorohydrin, supplying caustic soda to a position lower than it, carrying out the reaction.
CONSTITUTION: 3W6wt% aqueous solution of glycerol dichlorohydrin at 30W70°C is fed from the conduit 3 to the upper part 2 of the reaction distillation column 1, 10W20wt% milk of lime at 30W70°C is supplied from the conduit 5 to the position 4 higher than it, formed epichlorohydrin is subjected to steam distillation by steam sprayed from the nozzle 7, and taken out from the top 8 of the column to the outside of the column. 10W40wt% caustic soda is fed from the conduit 14 to the position 13 lower than the feed position 2 of the raw material, the unreacted raw material is saponified, and subjected to steam distillation.
EFFECT: Even if an amount of steam introduced by spraying is small, the raw material is not leaked from the bottom of the column, and the yield of the desired substance is improved.
