Abstract:

To obtain a process for the production of flame resistant, halogen-free polyurethanes/polyureas with improved properties.

In the process for the production of a flame resistant, halogen- free from a polyisocyanate and a polyol comprising adding an amine adduct of an acidic metal salt of the formula: A1-3B0-12P3-9N4-12M0-9xH2O (I) (wherein A is at least one hydroxide or oxide of a metal selected from the group consisting of aluminum, magnesium calcium and zinc; B is orthoboric acid; P is an acid containing phosphorus; N is at least one of an amine and ammonia; M is an alkali metal hydroxide; and x is an integer of 0-90) to the mixture of the polyisocyanate and the polyol, an aqueous solution of at least one sugar or a polymethylol compound is further added to said mixture.
