Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled compound useful as a raw material for medicines and tasting agent sodium inosinate in high yield in one step, by reacting formamide with hydrogen cyanide in the presence of a specific amount of ammonia.
CONSTITUTION: Formamide is condensed with hydrogen cyanide in the presence of 1W20mol%, preferably 5W15mol%, based on the formamide, ammonia at 100W160°C, preferably 120W150°C for 10minW2hr to give the aimed substance hypoxanthine. The molar ratio of the formamide to the hydrogen cyanide is preferably within 2:1W3:2 range.
