Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prepare an immobilized bioactive substance having the specific biological characteristics of collagen and the activity of the bioactive substance, by bonding collagen carrier with the bioactive substance through a compound (spacer) having a proper length.

CONSTITUTION: Bonding groups (e.g. azide group) are introduced into a coolagen carrier such as a molded soluble collagen, insolubilized collagen fiber, etc. e.g. by reacting with a cyan halide. The collagen carrier is pref. subjected to a proper pretreatment, e.g. methyl-esterification, to activate the functional groups of the carrier. A spacer having a functional group such as NH2 group is introduced to the collagen carrier having the bonding group, and the bioactive substance (e.g. enzyme, antibody) is chemically bonded and immobilized to the collagen carrier through the spacer.
