To provide an antimonate catalyst useful for the ammoxidation of an olefin and/on paraffin to a corresponding unsaturated nitrile.
The method for preparing the antimonate catalyst having the following experimental formula: VaSbbMmNnOx (wherein a is 0.01-2, b is 0.5-4, m is 0.01-3, n is 0-1, M is Sn, Ti, Fe, Cu, Mn, Ga or a mixture of them and N is Li, Mg, Sr, Ca, Ba, Co, Ni, Zn, Ge, Nb, Zr, Mo, W, Cr, Te, Ta, Se, Bi, Ce, In, Ar, B or a mixture of them) includes a process for heating an aqueous mixture, which contains a water-soluble vanadate, Sb2O3 and at least one kind of an M accelerator, to a temperature between its reflux temperature and 250°C under autogenous pressure while stirring the same over a time sufficient to form a catalyst precursor.
