Abstract:
To provide an enantiomerically enriched N-acylazetidine-2-carboxylic acid, and a method for obtaining (S)-azetidine-2-carboxylic acid by deacylation of the compound.
The deacylation method comprises the selective crystallization of a diastereoisomeric salt formed between the required enantiomer of the N-acylazetidine-2-carboxylic acid and an enantiomer of 1-phenylethylamine. The method is based on the optical resolution method (d.e.=91%) and hydrolysis using an alkali metal hydroxide and is proceeded without racemization.
