Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve high-temperature mechanical characteristics, heat resistance, and impact resistance, by blending thermoplastic polyester with a reinforcing agent and an epoxy compound, molding the blend in a molten state to give a molded article, heat-treating it at high temperature.

CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. thermoplastic polyester is blended with 5W150pts.wt. fibrous and/or granular reinforcing agent and 0.5W50pts.wt. epoxy compound to give a composition, which is molded in a molten state to give a molded article, which is heat-treated at 200W280°C, preferably 210W270°C for ≥20min, preferably ≥5hr. In the heat treatment, the molded article is put in a heating apparatus and heated in an atmosphere of hot nitrogen for a given time (≤500hr). Ethylene-glycidyl methacrylate copolymer is preferable as the epoxy compound.
