Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain optically active-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl) serine, by hydrolyzing asymmetrically a corresponding racemic-ester derivative with an ester hydrolyzing enzyme.

CONSTITUTION: A lower alkyl or aryl ester of racemic-threo-3-(3,4-dihydroxyphenyl)serine is asymmetrically hydrolyzed with an ester hydrolyzing enzyme such as swine liver esterase or by the use of a culture solution of a microorganism having ester hydrolyzing ability, a culture mold or a treated material of the mold.
