Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a polyene useful as a dye or a reactive substance by allylating an allyl-arylsulfone and then eliminating an arylsulfinic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A polyene is obtd. by allylating the α-position of an allyl- arylsulfone which is converted into an anion with a strong base, and then by eliminating the allylsulfonic acid with a strong base during olefin-base double bonds are produced. In this process, allylation and elimination of arylsulfininc acid are carried out in one inactive polar solvent which is immiscible with water, especially in a ketone expressed by R1-CO-R2 (R1, R2 are 2 to 4C alkyl or R1 and R2 are bonded to form tetramethylene or pentamethylene), preferably in diethylketone.
