Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prepare a reclaimed rubber having excellent characteristics from vulcanized rubber scrap, by swelling the rubber scrap with an organic liquid having a high boiling point, and reacting the swollen rubber with an amine compound and a thiol compound.
CONSTITUTION: 100 parts by weigh of a vulcanized rubber scrap, e.g. used tire, etc., is mixed with ≤ 20 parts by weight of an organic liquid having a high boiling point, e.g. tetralin, etc., and heated at ≥ 120°C. ≤ 5 parts by weight of an amine compound and a thiol compound are added thereto. By heating the compound at 120 - 220°C, the rubber is plasticized and desulfurized resulting in the scission of the network chain of the rubber, to obtain the desired reclaimed rubber.
