PURPOSE: To obtain the subject aqueous solution useful as a crosslinking agent for addition polymers, polycondensates, etc., containing carbonyl groups in the molecules, by converting a dihaloalkane into an alkylene bisoxime ether using a ketoxime, and then cleaving the ether.
CONSTITUTION: A dihaloalkane of formula I (wherein A is alkylene) or the like is converted into an alkylene bisoxime ether of formula III or the like using a ketoxime of formula II (wherein Me is methyl) or the like in an aqueous solution of a strong mineral base. The ether is cleaved using a strong mineral acid and water to produce a mineral acid salt or ketone of a bisaminoxyalkane of formula IV or the like. After separating the ketone, an alkali metal hydroxide is added to the residual aqueous solution to liberate a bisaminoxyalkane of formula V, and, an ionic component is removed from the resulting aqueous solution by electrodialysis, to thereby obtain the objective aqueous solution.
