PURPOSE: To provide a prepreg containing a reinforcing fiber, a matrix resin and more than a specific amount of a thermoplastic resin soluble in the matrix resin in a state localized within a prescribed depth from the surface of the prepreg, having excellent tackiness, drapeability and impact resistance and useful for composite material, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The prepreg is composed of (A) a reinforcing fiber filament such as carbon fiber, (B) a matrix resin such as a mixture of a thermosetting resin (e.g. epoxy resin) and a thermoplastic resin (e.g. polyimide resin) and (C) preferably 1-50 pts.wt. (based on the component B) of fine particles of a thermoplastic resin soluble in the component B and having particle diameter of 150μm or smaller, wherein 90% or more of the component C is localized in the range from the surface to the depth corresponding to 30% of the thickness of the prepreg at one or both sides of the prepreg.
