PURPOSE: To improve press production efficiency by providing a mandrel which moves vertically according to a press action and disposing slidable molding punches alongside the mandrel.

CONSTITUTION: A press feeder 11 which feeds work pieces 12 is disposed and the mandrel 13 is provided along the feed direction thereof. The mandrel 13 is vertically moved by the press action of push-down pins 16. Further, the molding punches 21, 22 are disposed to both sides of the mandrel 13 and are moved in the direction of the mandrel 13 by the press action of the cam 23 so that the punches 21, 22 together with the mandrel 13 mold the work pieces 12 to a prescribed shape. A guide 14 and the mandrel 13 are pushed down as the press descends; thereafter, the punches 21, 22 move to the bottom dead pint where the work pieces are molded by the mandrel 13. The molding with pregressive feeding by using the mandrel 13 is thereby executed. The production efficiency of the press is, therefore, improved.
