To provide a press for performing the magnetic field orientation of magnetic powder at the degree of orientation equal to or more than a conventional one with an inexpensive configuration.
A press comprises a die 10 having a through hole 10a to form a cavity and a pair of punches 20 and 30 for pressing magnetic powder filled in the cavity and provided with tip parts 20b and 30b having pressing faces 20B and 30B and bottom surfaces 20C and 30C and trunk parts 20a and 30a having end faces 20A and 30A joined with the bottom surfaces of the tip parts, and a magnetic field generating means 40 to apply the oriented magnetic field to the magnetic powder in the cavity. The die 10 and the tip part 20b and 30b are formed of magnetic materials, the trunk parts 20a and 30a are formed of a BeCu alloy, and the bottom surfaces 20C and 30C of the tip parts 20b and 30b and the end faces 20A and 30A of the trunk parts 20a and 30a are joined with each other by silver solder.
