Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make paper not bifacial but uniform by uniformly dehydrating web from its both sides in a cross direction while effectively performing web dehydration and preventing felt abrasion in a press part of a paper making machine.

CONSTITUTION: A press part is equipped with four nips N1-N4 for double felt to pass through and five sheets of felt F1-F5. Each nip is a direct passage type and two sheets of web-nipping felt pass through it. The first felt F1 receives web W from a forming wire FD and passes together with the second felt F2 through the first nip N1. The web having passed through the first nip is supported by the second felt F2. In each of subsequent nips N2-N4, one felt supporting web nips together with the other new felt the web and passes through the same nip. After passing through the nip, the web is supported on the other felt and is nipped by both the other felt and a newer felt to pass through the next nip.
