To provide a pressed powder core capable of satisfying all of increased permeability, reduced core loss, and increased density, and to provide a method for manufacturing the pressed powder core.
The pressed powder core contains a soft magnetic material including a metal magnetic particle and an insulating film surrounding the surface of the metal magnetic particle. In a range of from 528.0-534.0 eV in a spectrum acquired in measuring a broken-out section of the pressed powder core by an X-ray electron spectroscopy analysis method, the pressed powder core has a single binding energy peak in a range of from 531.0-532.0 eV. The pressed powder core has a surface state where the insulating film covering the metal magnetic particle is not destroyed and oxidized.
