PURPOSE: To obtain an encapsulated toner having stable particle diameter distribution by forming a hardened epoxy resin shell on the outside of each particle of a core substance contg. a pressure fixable binder resin, an epoxy resin, and a colorant and/or a magnetic powder.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of a core substrate contg. a pressure fixalbe binder, an epoxy resin, and colorant, and/or a magnetic powder is dispersed or dissolved into an org. solvent. The obtained liquid dispersion or soln. is dispersed into an aq. soln. contg. an epoxy resin hardening agent, and heated to form an outer shell on each particle of the core substance. Then, the org. solvent in the capsules is extracted with a lower alcohol to form an encapsulated toner. As said pressure fixable substance, higher fatty acids, their metal salts, higher fatty acid derivs., etc. are used, alone or in combination of ≥2 of them. As said epoxy resin, bisphenol A type epoxy resins are used, and a compds. used for their hardening agent is a compd. for opening the ring of the epoxy group and linking thereto, such as amines, acid anhydride, or org. acid.
