Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prestressing machine to be used for a combination mill which can be converted from a universal mill to a horizontal double rolling mill or reversely from a horizontal double rolling mill to a universal mill, wherein an optimal prestress is given to a housing by a simple means in horizontal double rolling, in addition to an optimal prestress to the housing in the conventional universal rolling and a product is securely prevented from getting out of tolerance.
SOLUTION: A prestressing rod is provided between the drive side housing and the operation side housing, which passes through both housings and connects both housings. A cylindrical spacer split into two halves is provided on the outer circumference of the prestressing rod. At least, one half of the spacer can be turned at various angles concentrically with the prestressing rod. The shafts of the united spacer are long and short when the two halves of the split cylindrical spacer are united.
