To provide a method for pretreating the joint of a hose using an inexpensive and safety apparatus such that the correlation between the test results and the results of actual use can be grasped more reliably in the test for evaluating the joint of hose.
A connector 4 connecting a hose 1 and a counterpart member 2 is sealed at one end thereof and coupled with a holding tank 17 at the other end thereof in order to evaluate the effect of working ambient temperature and a flammable fluid 6 flowing through the hose 1. The connector 4 is filled with the flammable fluid held in the holding tank and sealed tightly therein through an excess space. It is set in an enclosed pressure vessel 12 which is then heated in a thermostatic bath 11. The increased inner air temperature of pressure vessel and the flammable liquid being pressurized by the steam pressure produced in the excess space through heating influence the connector from the inner and outer circumferential surfaces thereof, thus pretreating the joint.
