PURPOSE: To obtain a preventing agent for the antagonism for a herbicide and capable of preventing the antagonism in use of a herbicide for narrow-leaves weeds and a herbicide for broad-leaved weeds in combination without requiring an increase in dose of the chemical and reducing the danger of causing phytotoxicity and enabling the efficient weeding.
CONSTITUTION: This preventing agent for the antagonism comprises a hydrophilic polymeric compound containing a quaternary ammonium salt as an active ingredient. The preventing agent for the antagonism is used in an amount of 0.001-5wt.%, preferably 0.005-0.5wt.% based on an application liquid which is a diluted liquid of a herbicide for narrow-leaved weeds and a herbicide for broad-leaved weeds diluted with water, etc. The preventing agent is applied in an amount of usually preferably about 0.1-100g based on 10a. A compound expressed by formula I or IT {B is a group having an anion or a halogen; X1 and X2 each is H or methyl; R1 and R2 each is a 1-3C alkyl; Y is a group containing the quaternary ammonium salt, e.g. formula III to VII [A is O or NH; (n) is 0-4; R3 to R5 and R each is a 1-3C alkyl]; Z is a group without containing the quaternary ammonium salt; (l):(m) is (5:95) to (100:0)} is preferred as the polymeric compound.
