Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide substances and methods for reducing or preventing metastatic behavior in voltage-gated sodium channel expressing cancer by the effect of at least reducing the persistent part of the current without eliminating the transient part of VGSC current.SOLUTION: The invention provides ranolazine and riluzole for reducing or preventing the metastasis behavior in VGSC expressing cancer including breast cancer and prostate cancer.EFFECT: Inhibition of metastatic cell behaviors such as detachability, lateral motility, transverse migration, and invasiveness is demonstrated using the known drugs ranolazine and riluzole.SELECTED DRAWING: None
