A printed matter inspection apparatus is equipped with a sensor 22 reading the image of the predetermined region within the pattern of reference printed matter, an operation part 32 performing the pattern matching processing of the image of the predetermined region with respect to printed matter to be inspected and detecting the misregister of the pattern printing position of the printed matter to be inspected with respect to the reference printed matter and correcting the coordinates system of the pattern printing position of the printed matter to be inspected corresponding to this shift and a colorimeter 20 measuring the colors at the corresponding positions in the respective printed matters corresponding to the coordinates system after correction.
