PURPOSE: To expand a printing range by transferring a transfer material continuously onto a material to receive the transfer beyond a unit size by a transferring means, and by conveying continuously rolled paper and a thermal transfer ribbon.
CONSTITUTION: In a continuation mode, there is not such a boundary of ink as in a multi-color ribbon, since a thermal transfer ribbon employed in said mode is of single color. Accordingly, it is unnecessary to convey rolled paper reversely, and in addition, continuous printing can be performed without providing any margin after printing a unit size of paper as in a non-continuation mode. Thus, the ribbon and the rolled paper are conveyed continuously till the completion of printing, and the printing is performed continuously. When the printing is ended, the paper is delivered. In the continuation mode in which the rolled paper is printed by using a single-color ribbon in this way, a printing range is not restricted, and thus this mode is very advantageous for printing a program list or the like.
