Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce manhour required for assembling the entire device together during manufacture and at the same time, cost incurred for the manufacture of the device by driving a platen and a carrier on which a printing unit is mooted using a single stepping motor.
CONSTITUTION: The subject printer drive device is composed of a means for driving a platen 22 which drives the platen 19 to rotate, a means for driving a carrier 23 which drives the carrier (not illustrated) on which a printing head is mounted, arranged in such a manner that the carrier shuttles back and forth along the platen 19, and a single stepping motor 1 which drives each means for drive 22, 23. In addition, a means for selection/connection 24 which selects between the means for driving a carrier 23 and a means for driving a platen 22 and connects either one of both means, is installed on the output step 1A of the stepping motor 1.
