The ink ribbon printer 100 is provided with an image converting part 11 for obtaining an image data P for every page obtained by converting a printing image A, a scanning part 12 for detecting a printing part by scanning the image data P, a setting part 13 for setting a printing region in longitudinal and lateral directions of the image data P on the basis of the printing part detected by the scanning part 12, an orientation adjusting part for obtaining adjusted image data by adjusting an orientation of the image data P so that a direction in which a total length of the printing region is shorter agrees with a printing direction, and a control part 16 for controlling for the orientation adjusted data, printing at the printing region, and transferring only a printing paper 70 and stopping transferring the ink ribbon 40 at a printing-less region.
