In this printer, a transfer mechanism 6 arranged between a driven pulley 32 and a ribbon winding section 7, is formed of a gear 49, a plate 49a rotatable about a shaft center of the gear 49, and a planet gear 50 arranged on the plate 49a and capable of revolving about the gear 49 as a sun gear. Thus, the planet gear 50 is brought into contact with a gear 60 of the ribbon winding section 7 by the revolution of the planet gear 50, and therefore rotation is transferred to the ribbon winding section 7.
