The printer comprises a platen for positioning a print medium being carried in the longitudinal direction in the thickness direction, a print head for ejecting ink toward the print medium positioned by the platen while moving in the width direction of the print medium being positioned by the platen, a fan for exhausting air sucked from the vicinity of the platen, and a means for controlling the fan depending on a prescribed timing between turn-on power and turn-off power.
