To automatically make printing by a leading end basis of each unit sheet without making a manual adjustment, even when making printing on a sheet position which can not be automatically positioned owing to a mechanical restraint of a loading mechanism, particularly, in the vicinity of a leading end of each continuous form sheet.
A continuous form sheet 12 is autoloaded, and when its stopping position is on a downstream side from a writing starting position by a print request on a sheet leading end basis (when a writing position passes over a recording head 24), the first sheet is discarded. Then, so as to make positioning with a perforated line being a leading end of the second page as a reference, a page feed is executed with a movement amount Lfirst which is found by subtracting a difference Δ between the leading end of the continuous form sheet 12 when autoloaded and the stopping position, from a movement amount Lnormal of a usual paper feed. A writing position in the second page thereby becomes on an upstream side from the recording head 24, so that the request for the leading end reference is complied with.
