To provide a printer by which a good paper discharging performance can be obtained by taking not only the printing speed but also the kind of a sheet of printing paper into consideration.

The printing paper P which is fed from a paper feeding section 4 is printed by a printing motion and discharged to a paper discharging apparatus 40 for this printer. In the printer, the paper discharging apparatus 40 has a discharged paper tray 41, a plurality of side fences 42 and 43, an end fence 44, and a fence position changing means 50. In this case, the discharged paper tray 41 mounts the sheets of printing paper after printing. The plurality of side fences 42 and 43 are arranged in the width direction of the sheets of printing papers which are mounted on the discharged paper tray. The end fence 44 can collide with the distal ends Pa of the sheets of printing paper which are mounted on the discharged paper tray 41, and is freely movable in the direction for approaching/separating from the printing paper discharging side. The fence position changing means 50 can change the colliding position with the printing paper distal ends by moving the end fence 44 conforming to printing paper kind information.
