Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer which is of a simple structure and good in maintenance, and in which printing on a printing medium with high resolution and high definition can be performed.SOLUTION: A printer 100, which reciprocates a printer head 3 equipped with a plurality of ink discharging ports against a printing medium and performs printing on the printing medium held as stationary against a base 1 during reciprocating movement, includes: a head guide member (guide shaft 5) for supporting the printer head 3 as slidable over the scanning direction (X axis direction) against the printing medium; a head drive part 170 for reciprocating the printer head 3 along the guide shaft 5; a head guide drive part 150 for shifting the printer head 3 in a direction orthogonal to the guide shaft 5 (Y-axis direction); and a control part for performing control to form a plurality of dot rows on the printing medium by discharging ink from the discharging ports while the printer head 3 is being moved forward or backward along the head guide shaft 5 by the head drive part 170, after drive and control of the head guide drive part 150, during forward or backward movement of the head 3.
