Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer capable of determining an abnormality class without moving a carriage when determining an abnormality class.SOLUTION: Abnormality is detected on the basis of displacement of the carriage, a drive part is instructed to stop when the abnormality is detected, and if a carriage is placed at an edge of a reciprocating section when a predetermined time elapses after the instruction, it is determined that the abnormality has occurred in the drive part. If the carriage is not placed at the edge of the reciprocating section when the predetermined time elapses after the drive part is instructed to stop, it is determined that the carriage has hit a foreign matter.
