Abstract:
To provide a printer capable of suppressing defects on a printing tape due to nipping of a platen roller after the attachment of a cassette.SOLUTION: A printer includes: a housing to which a printing cassette can be attached; a print head extending from an internal part of the housing so as to approach a cassette fitting port; a platen roller facing the print head; a holder capable of moving to a nip position for holding either the print head or the platen roller, and nipping the printing tape with the print head and the platen roller, and a non-nipping position at which the print head and the platen roller do not nip the printing tape; and a cover capable of moving from a covered position where at least a portion of the cassette fitting port is covered, to an engaged position for engaging with the housing by rotating about a rotational axis parallel to a direction of being fitted to the cassette fitting port of the printing cassette. The holder moves from the non-nipping position to the nip position in linkage with movement from the covered position of the cover to the engaged position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
