PURPOSE: To make printing on an accurate position of a standardized-format matter in a simple manner by a method wherein a character indicated on a display is printed on a printing medium while holding a relative position thereof to a recording image on the recording medium.
CONSTITUTION: By depressing an image scanning key 5A, an image scanner 15 reads an image on a printing card 81 by scanning over the printing card 81. The read image data is stored in a printed image memory 83 in a RAM 47. By operating a character key 5C, inputted letters, characters, and the like are stored in a printing memory 85 in the RAM 47 and indicated on a display 7. This operation is completed by depressing a printing key 5B. A thermal head 19 and a stepping motor 33 are driven under control so that the image displayed on the display 7 can be reproduced intact on the printing card 81. In this manner, such a pattern as shown by a character Cα inserted to a predetermined position of the printing card 81 indicated on the display 7 is printed on a corresponding position of the printing card 81 as such a pattern shown by a character Cβ.
