PURPOSE: To provide a printer capable of performing sharp printing even to a material to be printed, which is transferred at a high speed.

CONSTITUTION: A printer 10 includes a thermal head 24 as a removing means. In a heat-sensitive transfer material 14 which has a heat-sensitive transfer agent layer formed on one main surface of a belt-like support material thereof, the thermal head 24 thermally transfers an unnecessary portion of the heat-sensitive transfer agent layer to remove it and leaves a necessary portion of the heat- sensitive transfer agent layer on the support material. Further, the printer 10 includes a transfer roller 36 as a transferring means. This transfer roller 36 is used for transferring the necessary portion of the heat-sensitive transfer agent layer left on the support material onto a packaging film 100, which is a material to be printed, by methods of heating and pressing.
