PURPOSE: To provide a printer wherein ink solidification is prevented, an ink level detection error by a level sensor and ink blocking are eliminated, and faulty printing due to an ink-out condition is prevented, by making ink flow constantly and stirring ink.
CONSTITUTION: An ink fountain 2 and a lower ink reservoir 8 are connected by a connecting tube 9 whose upper end opening 91 is open in a position lower than a set level (A) of a level sensor 7, and an ink supply means is provided, which begins supplying ink from the ink reservoir 8 to the ink fountain 2 after a lapse of certain time from the time when the level sensor senses that the level of ink in the ink fountain 2 is lower than the level A, and stops supplying ink when the level sensor 7 senses that the ink level is higher than a set level. The ink reservoir 8 is provided with an ink stirring means.
