To obtain a printer having an ink ribbon feeding mechanism in which the degree of freedom is enhanced in the design of the ribbon feeding mechanism while making compact the printer.
A ribbon feeding mechanism 16 comprises first, second and third levers 19, 21 and 22 interposed between a wheel train mechanism and a ribbon feeding shaft 24. The first lever 19 turns about a first shaft 18 at the opposite ends thereof and has one end being driven through the wheel train mechanism and the other end engaged rotatably with one end of the third lever 22. The second lever 21 turns about a second shaft at the opposite ends thereof and has one end driving the ribbon feeding shaft 24 and the other end engaged rotatably with the other end of the third lever 22. The third lever 22 is supported rotatably between the first end to be engaged with the first lever 19 and the other end to be engaged with the second lever 21.
