PURPOSE: To add a magnifying or a reducing function to a printer when drops of ink are deflected according to printing signals, projected on a printing paper and printed by a method wherein the quantity of deflection is magnified or contracted and simultaneously the feed speed of the paper is made variable.

CONSTITUTION: Brightness signals and deflection signals are issued from the printing control section 3 according to character codes and character patterns. The deflection signals are sent to the ink deflection section 2 and the drops of ink projected from the ink projecting section 1 are deflected to print desired characters and figures. In that case, when a contraction printing command button 51 is depressed the amount of deflection of the ink drop is made smaller than the standard amount of deflection and the feed speed of the printed paper is controlled to be slower than the standard amount of deflection. On the contrary, if a magnification printing command button is depressed, the amount of deflection of the ink drop, the feed speed of the paper are reversed.
