PURPOSE: To perform test printing preferentially while eliminating such a state that the practice of test printing becomes impossible by the stoppage of a printing apparatus generated because no paper is present in a paper feed means in performing test printing, by providing a means for practicing test printing corresponding to the paper feed of a paper feed means selected by a selection means when a test printing order is issued.

CONSTITUTION: When a test switch 21 is pushed, a test printing order signal is inputted to a control part 22. When a paper feed means 4 is selected in present work, a paper feed means flag 23 is set to "1". Next, a paper feed order signal 25 is outputted according to predetermined print sequence to be inputted to an AND gate 24 and the output signal therefore comes to "1" while this output signal "1" is inputted to a paper feed roller driving circuit 26 to feed the paper of the paper feed means 4. On the other hand, a signal change-over device 13 is selected to the side of an internal pattern generator 10 which, in turn, supplies a predetermined image signal 11 to the signal change-over device 13 and a photosensitive drum 1 is exposed on the basis of this signal by laser beam to form a latent image.
