Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform determination of whether rubbing between a medium and a head occurs.SOLUTION: The printing device, which is configured to perform printing by discharging liquid from a head to a medium while moving a carriage mounted with the head capable of discharging liquid in a main scanning direction, comprises: a motor which moves the carriage in the main scanning direction; and a control portion which outputs driving signals for driving the motor to the motor, on the basis of feedback control. The control portion determines a first threshold value on the basis of an average value of the driving signals outputted during a first movement of the carriage accompanied by discharge of liquid by the head; and determines that abnormality occurs when the average value of the driving signals outputted during a second movement of the carriage accompanied by the discharge of the liquid by the head following the first movement exceeds the first threshold value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
