Abstract:
To enable a state of a printing device to be correctly detected even without using a dedicated sensor.SOLUTION: A printing device 1 comprises: a transport part 6 that conveys a print medium by power of a motor 2601; a printing part 701 that prints on the print medium, and changes its relative position with respect to the transport part 6 in conjunction with opening and closing operation of a lid 4 attached to a device housing 2 when the lid 4 is closed so that the printing part 701 press-contacts the transport part 6 via the printing medium; a speed detection part 2603 that detects rotation speed of the motor 2601; and a control part 21 that determines an open/closed state of the lid 4 on the basis of the detected rotation speed of the motor 2601. In one embodiment, the control part 21 determines the open/closed state of the lid on the basis of the detected rotation speed of the motor 2601 and a threshold value set on the basis of the rotation speed of the motor 2601 at printing on the print medium in a state where the lid 4 is closed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
