PURPOSE: To obtain printed matter having proper density, by running a web at a definite change rate so that the running speed of the web becomes non- synchronous to the peripheral speed of a plate cylinder and adjusting the quantity of the ink of a printing plate so as to be in direct proportion to said change rate.
CONSTITUTION: A plate cylinder 242 is rotated at an almost constant speed by a first electromotor 262 and the rotational speed thereof is detected by a speed sensor 236 and a running web 210 is driven by a rewinder 222 being a drive means so that the running web 210 slips at the definite change rate to the detected peripheral speed of the plate cylinder 242. A printing pattern and the pattern of a printing plate are dimensionally different at a definite ratio and the ratio of the dimension of the pattern of the printing plate in the peripheral direction and the dimension of the printing pattern in the peripheral direction is substantially inversely proportional to the change rate. Inking is adjusted so as to be almost direct proportion to the change rate, for example, by the doctor 252 contacted with a pumping-up roll 250. By this method, a printed pattern has a hue with proper density.
